4. MAINTENANCE
The procedure described in this chapter must be done at least once a day or following the
regulations in use in the laboratory.
The decontamination of the Unit must be done because of the biohazard risk due to fresh
or partially-fixed tissues.
4.1. Safety precautions
The personnel involved in the decontamination procedure of eGROSS pro-x and its optional parts (if present)
must wear the appropriate individual protective devices, in particular:
•
Single-use HI-RISK type protective gloves (100% latex or equivalent material). Personal protection device
compliant with the EN 374 standard and the 89/686/EEC Directive.
•
Antibacterial mask for surgical/operating room use and coat. Personal protection device compliant with
the EN 149 standard Grade FFP3D and the 89/686/EEC Directive.
4.2. Cleaning the eGROSS pro-x unit
The cleaning operations must be performed daily.
The anti-corrosion properties of the steel decrease under the effect of acids and halogenated compounds
(chlorine, bromide, iodide).
When working on the stainless-steel surface or during the cleaning procedures:
- Never use chlorine-based solutions at any concentration or temperature (e.g. bleach);
- Never use corrosive substances at any concentration or temperature (assets in general);
- Do not use the following fixatives: B5, AFA, zinc chloride formalin, mercury-based formalin,
- Do not clean the surface using a brace of objects;
- Do not leave containers with temperatures greater than 100°C (212°F) on the surface
Disconnect the plug from the outlet before initiating the cleaning procedure.
Do not immerse or rinse the PC or its peripherals and the camera.
Do not use abrasive cloths to clean the camera lenses.
If you accidentally spill liquid on the device, disconnect the unit from the power source.
Contact your Biomed regarding the continued safety of the unit before placing it back in
operation.
Do not spray cleaning agent on the chassis.
Do not autoclave or clean the PC Panel or its peripherals or the camera with strong aromatic,
chlorinated, ketone, ether, or Esther solvents (like ethyl acetate or methyl palmitate), sharp
tools or abrasives.
Never immerse electrical connectors in water or other liquids.
