3.5 Image adjustment
The features digital gain, black level, and fixed pattern noise (FPN)
allow to adjust the image. Whereas digital gain is used to increase
the brightness of all pixels, black level defines the brightness of the
dark pixels in a picture.
Fixed pattern noise describes the non-uniformity of equivalently
exposed pixels. This non-uniformity is caused by the sensor but can
be reduced with FPN correction.
3.5.1 Black level
Black level defines the brightness in the darkest part in the image.
Possible black level settings are values between 50 and 200.
The value 80
hex
is the factory calibrated value. It will result in a pixel
value slightly > 0 for black and ensures that no information will be
lost in dark image areas. This setting is recommended for image pro
-
cessing applications. In other use cases it may be necessary to
adjust the black level setting slightly.
