Backwash
Function: clean fi lter of captured debris. This is the
position needed to clean the fi lter/the sand. You’ll know
it is time to backwash when the pressure gauge rises
0,3 to 0,6 bar above what it normally reads when the
fi lter is clean.
In this position, the water is fed in at the bottom soil
fi lter and it then runs upwards through the sand. The
collected dirt is loosened, sucked up and fl ows through
the dirt pipe out of the fi lter.
Closed
Function: Cleaning the hair and lint strainer. This posi-
tion stops the fl ow of water into the pump and fi lter.
CAUTION: Do not run pump with valve in this position.
Purge/
Drain
Function: bypass the fi lter. This position is ideal for
vacuuming pools with large amounts of debris or after
an algae treatment. In this position, water bypasses
the fi lter and sends all the water and contaminates out
the waste line.
Winterize
Function: winterizing and storage. In this position,
the valve lever is between positions which removes
pressure from internal valve components for winter
(off-season) storage.
CAUTION: Do not run pump with valve in this position.
Filtering time
The swimming pool’s water should be circulated and fi ltered at least 3
to 5 times in a 24 hour period, depending on the load and the size of the
fi lter system. The time required is based on the performance of the fi lter
system and the size of the swimming pool. However, we recommend a
minimum running time of 12 hours per day.
Power source Instructions
The fi lter system you have purchased is equipped with a connection
cable, which may only be connected to a circuit with a residual current
circuit breaker (RCCB) with a rated residual current of no more than
30mA.
Technical data:
■ Filter pump 040955
■ Circulation power 3,800 l/h
■ Pump is not self-priming
■ maximum water temperature 35 °C
■ 230 V / 200 W
■ 7 way valve with pressure gauge
■ Tank Ø 250 mm
■ Connector Ø 32/38 mm
■ Ground plate
■ requires approx. 10 kg sand
■ recommended grain size 0.7 - 1.2 mm
■ for pools up to 19,000 l capacity
■ Available separately: Steinbach container for Steinbach UV-disinfec-
tion system
Operation with a pool vacuum cleaner
(Illustration 8)
■
The pool vacuum cleaner’s hose can be connected directly to the fi lter
system’s suction pipe. In doing so, the pool vacuum cleaner’s hose
must be completely fi lled with water.
■ The use of a skimmer with a strainer basket is recommended for fi lter
systems without pre-fi lters.
■ Please observe the pool vacuum cleaner’s operating instructions. To
prevent the fi lter from running dry and thus overheating, no air should
be allowed to enter the fi lter system.
■ Please select the “FILTERN” position on the valve head.
■ Alternatively, you can also select the “ENTLEEREN (empty)” position,
for example if algae forms in the pool. Dirty pool water will not then run
back into the pool, but will be directly channelled away via the waste pipe.
When selecting this setting, it is necessary to re-fi ll your pool to the
correct level after cleaning, if necessary.
Problem treatment
Cause of Problems
Solution
Sand contaminated with dirt
Backwashing (cleaning of the
sand)
Pump sucks air
(Bubbles at the inlet)
defective hoses,
tighten hose clamps
Skimmer or pump gets too little
water
Check water level and increase
if necessary, check the intake for
dirt accumulation
Skimmer basket contaminated
Cleaning of the skimmer basket
Prefi lter basket of the fi lter pump
contaminated
Cleaning of the prefi lter basket
For any errors not listed above, please contact your dealer!
Important Note
To winterize the system
■ Unplug the pump from the power source.
■ Close the shut off valves or block the fl ow of water at the pool inlet and
return ports.
■ Disconnect the fi ltration system from the pool, drain the tank and hoses.
■ Place the handle on the central valve in position ‘Winterize’ to relieve
the tension on the spring and internal valve components.
Changing the fi lter sand
The fi lter sand should be changed every 2-3 years, depending on how
much the fi lter system is operated.
Care instructions
Visible contaminants are removed through the fi ltration system. This
is not true for algae, bacteria and other microorganisms, which are
also a constant threat to clear, clean and healthy pool water. For their
prevention or removal, special water treatment is available, properly and
permanently dosed, guarantee for swimmers any kind of harassment
and ensure proper hygienic bath water.
Cleaning
Use conventional cleaning products. Do not use solvent-based or abra-
sive cleaning agents/tools, i.e. no hard sponges, brushes etc..
