8. Retighten the drain screw and reattach the hose to the left side
fitting.
9. Premix the following in a container:
a. 8 cc (0.27 oz) or 2 teaspoons of Mercury Precision
Quickleen lubricant.
b. 8 cc (0.27 oz) or 2 teaspoons of Mercury Precision Fuel
Stabilizer.
10.Remove the fuel filter. See
Maintenance - Fuel System
for
procedure.
11.Pour this mixture into the fuel filter opening. Reinstall the fuel
filter.
12.Prime the fuel system. See
Operation - Starting the
Engine
.
13.Place the outboard in water or connect a water hose to the
flushing system for circulating cooling water. Start the engine
and run at idle speed for five minutes to allow the treated fuel
to fill the fuel system.

NOTE: Make sure the fuel system has been prepared for storage.

or correct procedure for removing spark plug leads.
1. Remove the spark plugs. Add approximately 30 ml (1 oz.) of
engine oil or inject a five second spray of storage seal into
each spark plug hole.
2. Rotate the flywheel manually several times to distribute the oil
or storage seal in the cylinders.
3. Reinstall spark plugs.
Protecting External Outboard Components
• Lubricate all outboard components listed in Maintenance ‑
Inspection and Maintenance Schedule.
• Touch up any paint nicks. See your dealer for touch‑up paint.
• Spray Quicksilver or Mercury Precision Lubricants Corrosion
Guard on external metal surfaces (except corrosion control
anodes).
