Inspecting the Fuel Pump Sight Tube
The engine fuel pump sight tube gives you visual evidence of a fuel leak in the fuel pump diaphram. If fuel is ever visible in the
tube, see your authorized Mercury MerCruiser dealer to replace the fuel pump.

Checking
1. Check the drive belt for excessive wear, fraying, glazed surfaces, or cracks.
NOTE: Minor, transverse cracks (across the belt width) may be acceptable. Longitudinal cracks (in the direction of belt
length) that join transverse cracks are not acceptable.
2. Inspect the drive belt for a proper tension of 6 mm (1/4 in.) deflection. Check the belt tension by applying moderate thumb
pressure on the belt at the longest distance between the two pulleys.
