Idling speed is set automatically depending
on the coolant temperature.

When the vehicle is stationary, the engine is
running and the transmission is in neutral,
throttle response is intentionally slow.

The AdBlue
®
gauge is only available on vehi-
cles with BlueTec
®
exhaust gas aftertreat-
ment.
The AdBlue
®
reducing agent is required for
reduction of engine emissions.
The operating permit is invalidated if the vehi-
cle is operated without AdBlue
®
. The legal
consequence of this is that the vehicle may no
longer be operated on public roads.
In the
Range
menu window of the
ß
trip data
menu, you can display your vehicle's range
based on the current fuel tank content
(
Y
page 74).
If the AdBlue
®
level has dropped to approx-
imately 10% of the tank capacity, a corre-
sponding event window appears with the
Ø
symbol in the on-board computer. Top up the
AdBlue
®
tank in good time (
Y
page 128).
BlueTec
®
4 vehicles and BlueTec
®
5 vehi-
cles: if you do not observe the yellow event
window and you drive until the AdBlue
®
tank is
empty, engine output may be reduced.
When the AdBlue
®
tank has run dry, the event
is stored and is signalled by the
;
indicator
lamp when starting the engine as an emission-
relevant fault (
Y
page 69). Additionally,
speed may be limited to approximately
20 km/h.
Fuel display
Example: instrument cluster
If the

fuel level has dropped to approx-
imately 14% of the tank capacity, the needle
enters the red reserve area. The on-board
computer displays a corresponding event win-
dow with the

symbol.

menu, you can display your vehicle's range
based on the current fuel tank content

page 74).
Clock and outside temperature
Instrument cluster (example: display in speedom-
eter)
You should pay special attention to road con-
ditions when temperatures are around the
freezing point.
Please observe that the outside temperature
display shows the measured air temperature
and does not record the temperature on the
street.
There is a delay in displaying a change in out-
side temperature.
