Upfitter
Upfitters are Vehicle Alterers and Equipment Manufac-
turers.
Complete vehicle
A complete vehicle is a vehicle which requires no
further manufacturing steps in order to perform its
intended function, except for the addition of readily
integrated components such as mirrors, wheels or tire/
rim assemblies or finishing operations such as painting.
Completed Metris "as delivered"
A completed Metris "as delivered" is a Metris which has
been manufactured by Daimler AG, possibly reassem-
bled by a representative of Daimler AG, and which com-
plies with all relevant laws and regulations and which is
supplied as a complete vehicle (cargo van or passenger
van) to a dealer, upfitter or other party involved in the
manufacturing and marketing of new motor vehicles
and equipment.
DG parts
DG parts (Daimler Group) are genuine parts and genu-
ine accessories intended for installation or attachment
in or on vehicles, components, major assemblies and
modules, including exchange and replacement parts,
which are supplied by MBUSA and MBCAN or a parent
company, subsidiary or company-owned sales and
service outlet.
Dealer
A dealer is a company which is authorized by MBUSA
and MBCAN to sell and provide services for Metris
vehicles.
Vehicle alterer
A vehicle alterer is a person or company which modifies
a previously certified vehicle and, in doing so, performs
work which extends beyond the addition, replacement
or removal of readily attachable parts.
Readily attachable parts include, for example, mirrors,
tire/rim assemblies or minor finishing operations such
as painting. Vehicle alterers are responsible for ensur-
ing that the previously certified vehicle continues to
meet all emissions and FMVSS/CMVSS standards.
