• Keep the handles clean, dry and free from oil and grease. Greasy or
oily handles are slippery and can cause you to lose control.
• Only saw wood. Do not use the tool for anything other than the
purpose for which it is intended to be used for. For example, do not
use the chain saw to saw plastic, bricks or building materials not
made of wood. Improper use of the tool increases the risk of injury.
Risk of kickback
• Amateurs and hobby users must not saw with the plunge method
when cutting and felling. This method can lead to kickback, which
can cause very serious or fatal personal injury.
• Kickback can occur if the chain at the tip of the bar touches an
object, or if the bar jams in the cut.
• If the tip of the bar goes against an object this will force the bar
back and cause it to kick up towards you.
• If the chain fastens on the top of the bar, this can cause the bar to
quickly kick back towards you.
• This can cause you to lose control of the tool and result in serious
personal injury. Do not rely on the built-in kickback guard. Take
suitable precautions to prevent accidents and personal injury.
• Kickback is always caused by the power tool being used incorrectly.
The following safety precautions can reduce the risk of kickback.
• Follow the instructions below to prevent kickback
– Hold the tool firmly with both your thumb and fingers round
the handles. Position your body and arms so that you can
withstand the force from potential kickback. By taking
suitable preventive measures you can counteract any
kickback. Never release your grip on the tool.
