05.0 Use
05.1 Safety precautions during use

DANGER: Contraindications.
Do not use the device on patients with diseases of the respiratory apparatus, such as chronic bronchitis,
asthma, emphysema, etc.

DANGER: Contraindications.
Patients who use contact lenses should remove them before undergoing treatment with the
bicarbonate-jet polisher.

DANGER: Contraindications.
Do not turn the stream of air/bicarbonate/water in the direction of the eyes.
Failure to observe this requirement can cause serious eye damage. It is advisable for everyone involved
(patient, dentist and dental personnel) to wear protective goggles).

Dentists and other dental personnel are advised to use protective masks in order to limit inhalation of the
powder.

DANGER: Contraindications.
Do not direct the stream of air/bicarbonate/water onto composites, fillings or bridges. Failure to observe
this requirement may cause them to be damaged.

DANGER: Contraindications.
Do not direct the jet of air/bicarbonate/water against the soft tissues or into the gingival groove. Failure
to comply with this requirement could cause a tissue emphysema of the gum (mucous membrane and/or
subcutaneous emphysema).

DANGER: Check the condition of the device before treatment.
Before each treatment always check that the equipment is in proper working order and that the
accessories are efficient. Do not carry out the treatment if any problems are encountered in operating the
device. If the problems concern the equipment contact an authorised technical service centre.

DANGER: Infection control and cleaning of the water and air circuits.
In order to ensure maximum safety for both the patient and the operator, after each treatment follow the
instructions indicated under point “06.0”.

WARNING: Use only powder supplied by Mectron (prophylaxis powder).
Do not use powders made by other manufacturers since they could damage the device, give rise to low
performance levels and invalidate the warranty covering the device.
�
WARNING: Do not attempt to unscrew the cap of the powder container when it is under
pressure.
�
WARNING: Make sure that the powder tank is perfectly dry.
The presence of moisture could case clogging of the channels.
