Error codes & messages
For explanation of the RS232 loom and SPI loom please refer to section titled What
are the SPI and the RS232 looms?
Error codes:
The duration the stand was running before an error message is
displayed below the error message.
Error 01
– Encoder wiring fault. - Encoder counts have been received the wrong way
round, either encoder or motor is wired the wrong way round
Error 02
– Motor control fault / Low mains power. - The board has tried to drive the
motor at maximum. (
Shouldn’t happen even under full load),
Check the tachometer loom, power cables and transformer loom. / Mains voltage
power supply is at the bottom end of the tolerance allowed for our systems (230V +-
10%, about 207Vac).
The Error 02 message is also displayed if the PCB heat sensing circuitry has been
activated.
Error 02 can also be displayed with the later Multitest 2.5d (blue base version) if run
at full speed and load. The sales brochure and operating manual recommend that
this type of stand is run @ 750mm/min (30in/min) for loads above 2000N
Error 03
– Encoder failure fault. - There are no encoder counts, check the encoder
loom (J2 on Motor PCB), check the encoder disc and pickup if a non-encapsulated
encoder motor is fitted. An oscilloscope can be used to check for pulses on pin 3 and
5 if the motor has an encapsulated encoder fitted.
Error 04
– Internal communication fault. - SPI had no reception, check the SPI loom
and RS232 looms.
