PW207E CONFIG Lines and valves from the
fuel cell to engine deck are shrouded and tied.
This allows for isolation of fuel leaks from the
airframe and cabin. Excess fuel that is not
burned in the combustion chamber drains back
into the fuel cell.
Powertrain - The powertrain is mounted on
the transmission deck. The powertrain consists
of the transmission, drive, lubrication, rotor
brake, and fire detection subsystems. The
powertrain system transfers engine torque
loads to operate the Main Rotor, NOTAR
,
and Hydraulic Systems. The powertrain
system is driven by both engines or can be
driven by one engine.
Rotor System - The rotor system consists of
the rotor hub, pitchcases, and rotor blades.
The rotor system is a five bladed fully-articu­
lated rotor hub located over the helicopters
center of gravity. It is mounted on the static
support mast structure and receives mechani­
cal input from the rotor drive shaft. The rotor
provides lift and helicopter lateral and
longitudinal control. Lead-lag blade move­
ments are dampened by elastomeric dampers.
Pitch of the blades is controlled through the
hydraulically boosted flight controls.
NOTAR Anti-Torque Control - The
anti-torque system provides yaw control and
stabilized helicopter rotor torque in the yaw
axis during hover and flight. The system
consists of an air inlet duct, enclosed articu­
lated fan driven by the transmission, air
circulation control tailboom, two vertical
stabilizers and a direct jet thruster.
Hydraulic System - The hydraulic system is
a dual path system. Dual circuit servo-actua­
tors connect the collective and cyclic cockpit
controls to the upper flight controls. A single
circuit dual path servoactuator connects the
anti-torque controls to the NOTAR
fan and
direct jet thruster control linkages. The
hydraulic system components have sufficient
strength to withstand combinations of loads
resulting from hydraulic pressure, vibration,
temperature variations and torque.
Flight Controls and Rigging - The helicop­
ter may be equipped with either right hand or
left hand control configurations consisting of
cyclic, collective, upper flight controls, anti-
torque controls, and a vertical stabilizer
control system.

Environmental Control System - The
environmental control system provides fresh
air, heated and cooled air for crew and
passenger comfort. The system also provides
for windscreen defogging.
Electrical System - The electrical system is
designed to provide the necessary electrical
power to operate and control the systems
during ground and air operations. The
electrical system consists of the battery power,
external power, DC power generation, DC
power distribution, and lighting subsystems.
Instrument System - The instrument
system consists of Independent Instruments,
such as airspeed, altimeter and magnetic
compass and the Integrated Instruments
Display System (IIDS).
Avionics System - The avionics system
consists of autoflight, communications, and
navigation subsystems.

contained in MD-900 publications, are to be
used for the MD-900 helicopter only. Study
the contents to get an understanding of the
arrangement and use of the manuals before
working on the aircraft.

refer to the current publications index for a
complete listing of all maintenance informa­
tion available.
