NOTE:
Do not loosen aft jam nuts.
(12). Remove lockwire from aft jam nuts
(14).
(a). Discard lockwire.
(13). Remove nuts (16), washers (3), and
bolts (7).
Carefully push forward end of forward
directional control cable into slot and con­
duit in tailboom.
Do not let the support grommets catch on
the bracket, conduit, or slot.
Forward directional control cable mini­
mum bend radius
6.0 inch (152 mm) .
Do not bend forward directional control
cable more than
180

effective angle.
Damage to cable will occur.
Do not coil forward directional control
cable into a circle or loop. Damage to
cable will occur.
(14). Pull forward directional control cable
aft through the tailboom cable conduit
and FS 401.73 aft swivel support
bracket (26) and remove.
NOTE:
If forward directional control cable is to
be moved more than a short distance or
packaged for shipment, it must be coiled
into the shape of an 8.
(15). If necessary, coil forward directional
control cable into the shape of an 8 as
follows:
NOTE:
It can be easier to do this procedure if
you get the aid of another person.
(a). Make the control cable straight on a
flat surface.
(b). Hold one end fitting of the control
cable and shake the cable.
NOTE:
This will align the internal races.
(c). Keep the control cable straight and
put end fitting down on flat surface.
(d). Carefully bend the two ends of
control in opposite directions until it
is in the shape of an 8.
(e). If necessary to fit into a shipping
container, pull the two ends to make
the 8 smaller.
NOTE:
Continue to carefully bend the two ends
in opposite directions until the cable is in
the shape of two 8, one on top of the other.
Do not tighten wire too much.
(f). Carefully put a wire around the
center of the 8.
B. Installation
Carefully push forward end of forward
directional control cable out of slot and
conduit in tailboom.
Do not let the support grommets catch on
the bracket, conduit, or slot.

NOTE:
The forward directional control cable is
shipped in the shape of an 8.
(1). If necessary, remove forward directional
control cable from shipping container as
follows:
(a). Remove control from container and
hold control vertical in your two
hands.
(b). Carefully remove wire from around
center of the 8.
(c). Straighten control one loop at a time
onto a flat surface, start with end
fitting nearest to you.
(d). Make control straight on the flat
surface.
(e). Hold one end fitting of control and
shake control.
NOTE:
This shake will align the internal races.
(2). Install forward directional control cable
in tailboom aft to forward through the
