4. Voltage Regulator
(Ref. Figure 202) The static voltage regulator
maintains constant generator output voltage
under varying speed and load conditions. The
regulator has a voltage adjustment range of 26
- 30 volts and contains an over voltage circuit.
A. Voltage Regulator Replacement
(1). Make sure all electrical power is OFF.
(2). Disconnect electrical connector and
remove voltage regulator.
(3). Install replacement voltage regulator
and attach electrical connector.
(4). Do an Adjustment of Installed Voltage
Regulator.(Ref. Procedure 4.B.)

NOTE:
Figures in Voltage Setting column represent
recommended constant potential charging volt-
age to which voltage regulator or GCU is to be
adjusted for listed temperatures.
B. Adjustment of Installed Voltage Regulator
The electrical system voltage level is to be
adjusted for a specific generator output
voltage, according to prevailing ambient
temperatures and voltage settings given in
(Ref.Table 201).
Overheating of the battery
can occur and fire and/or ex
plosion can result if the proper voltage
settings are not used with the appro
priate battery installed.
To accomplish a full charge, the 17 amp hr - 20
cell battery requires a higher regulated voltage
than the 13 amp hr - 19 cell battery. The
369A4652 voltage regulator must be adjusted
to supply the required voltage for the 17 amp
hr - 20 cell battery. When the 369A4652
voltage regulator is adjusted for use with the
17 amp hr - 20 cell battery, the decal must be
attached to the voltage regulator cover.

NOTE:
For regulator voltage settings of the 13
amp hr - 19 cell, or the 17 amp hr - 20 cell
battery (Ref. Table 201).
(1). Access power distribution center under
pilots seat structure.
(2). Connect a precision voltmeter (ST1009)
to test jacks of voltage regulator (Ref.
Figure 202).
Avoid steady-state operations
(specified as a dwell time of
more than one second) between power tur
bine (N
2
) speed avoid range (Ref. Applicable
Pilot's Flight Manual for ranges). Failure of
the power turbine can occur.
(3). Start engine (Ref. applicable Pilot's
Flight Manual).
(a). Hold the collective pitch full down
and allow (N
1
) idle speed to stabilize
(Ref. applicable Pilot's Flight Manu
al).
(4). Turn on all normal flight electrical
equipment
(a). Make sure that ammeter indicates
normal load.
NOTE:
If not, battery may be low.
