Seat Belt Systems

cru sh ed tog eth er a n d seriously in ju red o r even killed. N ever use one b elt f o r m ore
than one p e rso n a t a time.
B elt retraction m ay b ecom e difficult if the belts and rings are soiled, so try to keep them
clean.

▼ Emergency Locking Mode
If the belt has fully retracted, it w ill alw ays b e in the em ergency locking m ode until you
m ove it into autom atic locking m ode by pulling the belt all the w ay out to its full length. In
the em ergency locking m ode, the belt rem ain s com fortable on the occupant and the
retracto r w ill lock in position during a collision.
If the belt feels tight and hinders com fortable m ovem ent w hile the v ehicle is stopped or in
m otion, you m ay b e in the autom atic locking m ode b ecause you have pulled the b elt too far
out. To return to the m ore com fortable em ergency locking m ode, w ait until you can stop
the v ehicle in a safe area, retract the belt fully to convert it back to em ergency locking
m ode and then again extend it around you.
