When the eng i ne speed reaches the h i gh range,
the VDI valve opens, and the actual length of the
i ntake a i r i n the p i pe i s shortened to eff i c i ently
prov i de dynam i c a i r charg i ng effect .

When the i ntake ports are shut abruptly, the
i ntake a i r does not stop due to the i nert i a effect
and i t becomes compressed and h i ghly
pressur i zed . Th i s pressur i zed a i r becomes a
reflected h i gh-pressure wave that pressur i zes the
i ntake a i r i n the rotor chambers . Th i s i s dynam i c
a i r charg i ng pressur i zat i on . The i ntake a i r amount
i s i ncreased by the dynam i c a i r charg i ng effect,
i mprov i ng torque at the h i gh-speed range .

Passage of port A i s closed by the react i on
force of the spr i ng, and the passage between
ports B and C i s opened . Due to th i s, BARO i s
appl i ed to the actuator .
