For 4x4 vehicles with an automatic transmission, Mazda recommends
that a Neutral Tow Kit be purchased and installed by an authorized
dealer if a distance of 50 miles (80 km) or a speed of 35 mph (56 km/h)
must be exceeded.
For 4x2 vehicles with an automatic transmission, if a distance of 50 miles
(80 km) or a speed of 35 mph (56 km/h) must be exceeded, you must
disconnect the rear driveshaft. Mazda recommends the driveshaft be
removed/installed only by a qualified technician at an authorized dealer.
See your authorized dealer for driveshaft removal/installation.
For more information on towing, see the
Mazda RV & Trailer Towing
Guide,
available from your authorized dealer.
Improper removal/installation of the driveshaft can cause
transmission fluid or transfer case fluid loss, damage to the
driveshaft and internal transmission and transfer case
components.
