Quick reference

Quick reference

COMAND and the rear-cabin audiovisual
system are composed of the following
control elements:

Front cabin control unit,

two rear cabin control units with one
remote control unit,

DVD drive located between the rear
seats (in vehicles with center rear
seat: behind rear center armrest),

a CD change drive between the rear
seats (in vehicles with center rear
seat: behind center armrest)

headphones for the rear cabin,

AUX interface located in the glove
compartment, and

AUX interfaces located between the
rear seats (in vehicles with center rear
seat: behind rear center armrest).

The COMAND is also interconnected
with:

the front cabin mobile telephone,

the voice control system, and

the multifunction steering wheel and
multifunction display.

For further information and references
concerning the operation of these inter-
linked components, the corresponding
operation manuals should be studied
thoroughly.

The first section of this manual covers the
operation of the front cabin control unit,
and of the multifunction steering wheel.

The second section describes operation
of the system by remote control via the
rear-cabin control unit.

This chapter provides an overview of all
rear-cabin system components and a
general description of how they func-
tion. More detailed information can be
found in the corresponding section for
each system component.

The individual control units can be
switched ON/OFF separately.

Switching ON

Turn the key in the steering lock to
position 1 or 2,

or

In both cases, the system returns to
the operation mode activated prior
to switching OFF, or which was ac-
cessed by a rear cabin system; or the
basic menu appears if an Audio (Ra-
dio, CD) or Video (TV, DVD) source
was activated in the rear cabin.
