5.2.2  Establishing an RS-232 Connection

WARNING

Possible electric shock and equipment damage from con-
necting inappropriate peripherals!

The PROFILER ST is insulated by the power supply. Ensure that 
no dangerous voltages or currents are induced by peripheral 
devices in the PROFILER ST.

Establishing the connection to a PC using an RS-232 
cable

Switch off the PROFILER ST (

ON-OFF

 switch to position 

0

).

NOTICE

Possible equipment damage from commissioning/decom-
missioning with existing power connection!

Disconnect the PROFILER ST from the mains before connecting/
disconnecting measuring systems, a PC or other periph erals to/
from the PROFILER ST.

Disconnect the power supply of the PROFILER ST from the 
mains.

3 

Connect the 

RS-232

 port of the PROFILER ST with a serial 

port of your PC. Use the RS-232 interface cable for this.

4 

Switch on the PC.

5 

Connect the power supply of the PROFILER ST to the mains.

6 

Switch on the PROFILER ST (

ON-OFF

 switch to position 

I

).

The PROFILER ST is now connected with your PC. 
It is not necessary to install drivers with an RS-232 connection.
