DTC CHECK
1) Apply chocks to wheels, set shift lever to neutral position and
pull parking brake fully.
2) Start engine.
3) Connect positive probe of analog type voltmeter (1) to diagnosis
output terminal (2) and negative probe to ground terminal (3) of
monitor coupler (4).
4) Read deflection of voltmeter indicator which represents DTC
and write it down. When more than 2 DTCs are stored in
memory, deflection for each DTC is repeated three times start-
ing with the smallest DTC number in increasing order.
For details and example of DTC, refer to “DTC TABLE” in this
section.
5) After completing the check, turn ignition switch to OFF position
and disconnect voltmeter probes from monitor coupler.
DTC CLEARANCE
1) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2) Using service wire, short diagnosis output terminal (1) to ground
terminal (2) of monitor coupler (3).
3) After keeping them connected for 4 seconds or longer, discon-
nect one end of service wire (open) and within 2 seconds after
that, make the disconnected end of service wire contact where
disconnected (short) and repeat these actions (open and short)
at least five times within 10 seconds.
4) Perform DTC CHECK and confirm that normal DTC (DTC 12)
is displayed and not malfunction DTC.
