Soil pH151 Instructions
Before first use
Precipitation of the sensor electrolyte may cause white
crystals to form around the cap. This is normal and does not
affect the performance of the sensor.
Conditioning
Condition the sensor before use. Remove the transparent
cap and fill with water (tap water) to a height of 20mm
(marked on the cap supplied). Place the cap on the flat
surface and insert the sensor to soak for one hour. This will
activate the sensor and dissolve any crystals present. Rinse
the cap with water afterwards.
Calibrating the pH Tester
Select pH 7.01 calibration solution for general testing,
select pH 4.01 for acidic and pH 10.01 for alkali
solutions.
Press the ON/OFF button to power on.
Immerse sensor in 20mm of buffer solution and stir
gently.
Wait for displayed value to stabilise.
Press the CAL button to enter the calibration sequence.
CAL will flash momentarily and then show a flashing
default reading.
To complete calibration, press HOLD/ENT button to
confirm. To abort calibration, press CAL button to
escape.
pH Testing
Take two level 2ml scoops of soil and place in a sample
container. Add 10ml of deionised water.
Replace cap on container and shake gently for 1 minute.
Transfer the 10ml sample into the transparent cap of the
pH tester.
