We have given the target the greatest importance, hard avoid comes second with little importance to leakage. We want to get
the best coverage for our audience whilst minimising sound on stage and reflections from the balcony. The rest of our venue is
not too reverberant so we are not too concerned about spill onto non audience areas.
Optimise EQ’s
Once we are happy with the goals we have set we can start the optimisation process by clicking the Optimise button;
The Optimisation starts with low frequencies and moves up, displaying the result on the upper index plot as well as showing
plots for the response in the audience and non audience areas. As we have given the audience a high priority we can see the
individual measurement points previously wildly varied, starting to cluster much closer together. We have requested a start to
finish differential of +/- 3dB and the spread of magnitude certainly looks close to 6dB. The non-audience plot shows that the
response is still quite varied which is expected as it was low priority on our goals setting. The lowest plot shows how close to the
requested goal each of the three parameters has got to as a percentage. The levels closely match the relative importance that
was allocated to each of the three objective functions, target in green is close to 100%, hard avoid in blue hovering around 80%
and non-audience around the 50% mark.
