AVS A-SERIES INSTALLATION MANUAL - GEN 2 VER 5

Factory remote interface (MAP function)
The AVS A-Series can be directly controlled using the vehicle’s existing factory remote control. By hooking up the
POS1, POS2, NEG1, NEG2, M1 and M2 wires as per most data sheets (either supplied by AVS or not) or by testing to
find the trigger wires, the alarm can be controlled without further programming. The only programming required is
to turn on the interface in Register 1, Feature 14 and if you require enable mode, change Register 1, Feature 10
depending on the vehicle, interface uses inhibit mode as default.
Inhibit mode:
In inhibit mode the alarm will be armed and disarmed by POS1/POS2 and M2/M1 respectively. If a negative signal is
detected by either NEG1 or NEG2, arming or disarming will be inhibited. NEG1 and NEG2 would normally be hooked
up to the negative switch wires from the key barrel or lock/unlock switch in the door or car. The important thing to
remember is that the alarm should only arm and disarm from the factory remote, not from the key in the door or a
switch in the car.
Enable mode:
In enable mode the POS2 wire must see a positive signal to enable the system to arm or disarm. This is often hooked
up to the indicators if they flash on arming or disarming. Please note that with this mode a thief may be able to turn
the hazards on and then press an in-car central locking switch to disarm the alarm. Inhibit mode is a much more
secure upgrade option.
The table below describes each upgrade wires operation:
Wire
Inhibit mode
Enable mode
POS1
Positive arm: arms the alarm when this
wire gets a positive pulse
Positive arm: arms the alarm when this wire gets a
positive pulse and POS2 has a positive feed
POS2
Positive disarm: disarms the alarm when
this wire gets a positive pulse
Positive enable: this wire must go positive, or stay
positive to alarm arm/disarm
NEG1
Negative
inhibit:
stops
arm/disarm
(disables other wires for short period when
this wire gets a negative pulse)
Negative arm: arms the alarm when this wire gets a
negative pulse and POS2 has a positive feed
NEG2
Negative
inhibit:
stops
arm/disarm
(disables other wires for short period when
this wire gets a negative pulse)
Negative disarm: disarms the alarm when this wire
gets a negative pulse and POS2 has a positive feed
M1
Positive disarm: disarms the alarm when
this wire gets a positive pulse
Positive disarm. Change of state (either negative to
positive or positive to negative) will disarm alarm
when POS2 has a positive feed
M2
Positive arm: arms the alarm when this
wire gets a positive pulse
Positive disarm: Change of state (either negative to
positive or positive to negative) will disarm alarm.
Does not require POS2 to have positive feed
Note: With clip at the top with wires coming towards you, pins from left to right: M1 M2 POS1 POS2 NEG1 NEG2
IMPORTANT: If you are not using the alarm as an upgrade please open the module and unplug and remove
the upgrade loom form the main circuit board.
