If the brake piston has not retracted, the brake seal or
piston assembly may have been assembled incorrectly.
Alternatively, there may be residual pressure holding the
piston. Unscrew the brake bleed nipple with the engine
running and check that the piston retracts when the
pressure is released. Investigate the cause if the piston
remains in the applied position. See Residual Brake
System Pressure in Section 9.

The axle need not be removed to disassemble the
drive head.

Drain the oil from the axle center casing. Remove the
rear drive shaft from the axle.

Remove both hub assemblies with drive shafts (see
page 8-7).

Mark the installation position of the drive head carrier

Clean the drive head carrier and axle casing mating
surfaces.

Pull out tension pins
