Crane operation in case of danger due to static electricity
charge
The truck crane and load can become charged with static electricity!
– Near strong transmitters (radio transmitters, radio stations, etc.).
– Near high-frequency switchgears.
– If a thunderstorm is under way.
If there is a risk of it becoming charged with static electricity, earth the truck crane
and the load.
Risk of accidents due to electric shock!
Inform your helpers what to do in the event of an electric shock. Corresponding
information is to be found in the supplied
operating manual
.
Contact the operator of the transmitter prior to operation in the effective range of
strong high-frequency transmitters. The earthed truck crane could interfere with
transmission.
Observe all information on how to earth the truck crane and earth the load;

.
Earthing the load
Even if the truck crane is already earthed (
p. 4 - 36), the load may become
charged with static electricity. For example, if a hook block with synthetic sheaves
or non-conducting sling gear is used.
The load may in particular become charged with static electricity if a hook block
is used with a sheave made of synthetic material or non-conducting lifting tackle
(e.g. synthetic or manila hemp ropes).
Risk of accidents due to electric shock!
Only use a metal rod with insulated handle to
earth the load. Hold the metal rod by this handle
only.
Make your helpers aware that the load must not
be touched until it has been earthed.
