Installation and Commissioning
6.1
Prerequisite
Before starting any work read and observe the General Safety Instructions and the safety information in this
chapter.
Strictly observe these instructions and act prudently to avoid accidents, personal injury and property damage.
Personal Protective Equipment

Personnel

The installation and commissioning may only be performed by MAN employees or by MAN-trained quali
fied personnel.
WARNING!
Danger caused by faulty installation and commissioning!
Installation and commissioning require trained qualified personnel with sufficient experi
ence. Faulty installation can cause life threatening situations and considerable property
damage.
For this reason:

Installation and commissioning are only to be performed by MAN employees.
S
Installation and commissioning by MAN trained qualified personnel may only be per
formed with approval from MAN.

Risk of injury caused by improper installation and commissioning!
Improper installation and commissioning can cause serious personal injury or considerable
property damage.
For this reason:

Ensure adequate work space before starting any work.
S
Be careful when working with exposed parts with sharp edges.
S
Make sure work space is kept clean and orderly!
S
Install components in a correct manner.
S
Observe the prescribed tightening torques.
S
Secure components so that they do not fall or tip over.
S
Before commissioning the engine, carefully read the Operating Instructions and familiarise yourself with
the “critical” subjects.
S
It is absolutely necessary to observe the “Assembly Instructions” for the installation and commissioning
of a new or reconditioned engine.
