7 Operating ventilation unit(s)
The set operating mode and ventilation
level apply to all connected room air controls
and ventilation units, as does the External OFF
function. Other settings (intermittent ventila-
tion, sleep mode) only apply to ventilation
units on the relevant room air control.
Only use cross-ventilation mode for limited
periods so that the rooms do not cool too
much at a low supply air temperature (outside
temperature < 16 °C)
.
If stationary for long periods, replace the
air filters → Observe the attached safety in-
struction sheet.
7.1 Switching on and off
Once the mains fuse has been switched on, the
LEDs of the selected operating mode and ventila-
tion level light up on the wired room air controls
→

radio-controlled ventilation
units have 3 LEDs on the inner housing.
Select “ventilation level 0” to switch off the ventila-
tion units.
To save energy, the LEDs are dimmed if not used
for 5 minutes. Set value can be changed with
commissioning software.
7.2 Shutter
The shutter in the internal housing of the
PP 45
serves to prevent unpleasant smells/harmful sub-
stances from being drawn into interior rooms and/
or cold outside air flowing in when the unit is
switched off (level 0).
• On
PP 45 O
units, the shutter is opened or
closed by hand. Shutter open (vertical): Turn
rotary knob all the way to the right. Shutter
closed (horizontal): Turn rotary knob all the way
to the left.
• With
PP 45 K
and
PP 45 RC
units, the shutter
opens and closes automatically (servomotor).
•
PPB 30
units do not have a shutter.
Before switching on PP 45 O units, ensure
that all shutters are fully opened. This is the
only way of ensuring perfect ventilation and
air extraction.
7.3 Heat recovery operating mode
All ventilation units connected to a room air con-
trol run with heat recovery (HR) in alternation.
When the HR function is switched on, the associ-
ated status LED (HR) lights up. Interconnected
PP 45
unit pairs and the two internal
PPB 30
fans
switch between ventilation and air extraction in 60
second intervals. The ventilation level can be indi-
vidually adapted to requirements.
7.4 Cross-ventilation operating mode
Suited to rapidly venting living spaces or for cool-
ing (e.g. on summer nights). The air flows in one
direction: Direction of airflow permanently set to
ventilation or air extraction, no heat recovery.
When the function is switched on, the associated
status LED (cross-ventilation) lights up. The vent-
ilation level can be individually adapted to require-
ments.
7.5 Demand-driven sensor mode
This operating mode ensures that the air is dehu-
midified in response to demand or that the room
air quality is improved depending on the sensors
in the ventilation system. If required, the ventila-
tion is automatically adjusted using the humidity,
CO2 or air quality value (VOC) measured by the
sensor.
Automatic operation controls interconnected vent-
ilation units following the stored sensor character-
istics curve (linear course). Sensor value limits for
comfort units, can be set with the commissioning
software. The value limits for Object or
PP 45 RC
units are stored permanently and cannot be
changed. For
PPB 30 RC
units, the limit values
can be changed via the service mode → Installa-
tion instructions for final installation kit.
The demand-driven sensor mode is switched on
manually with
PP 45
or
PPB 30 O
units.
PPB 30 K
/
PPB 30 RC
units automatically regu-
late demand-driven sensor mode. Operating
modes for
PPB 30 K
units = automatic or system
operation, setting with commissioning software
(
PPB 30 K
) or with service mode (
PPB 30 RC
).
Depending on operating mode, demand-driven
mode is started in a continuously variable manner
(automatic operation) or when the maximum per-
mitted room air humidity is exceeded (system op-
eration).
If a ventilation level is set manually on an
RLS 45
K
or
DS 45 RC
during demand-driven mode, the
ventilation units continue to run for 30 minutes in
