3. Guide the power cable from above through the cable
grommet [T2] and provide tension relief.
Connecting the fan electrically
1. Connect the power cable to the terminal block and wire
according to the circuit diagram (→ sticker in the ter-
minal box or chapter
EVN 22 R
, also connect the connection cable for the
shutter.
2. Connect optional accessories.
3. Fit terminal box cover and secure it with the two
screws. Tighten the screws hand-tight.
NOTICE:
Damage to the unit, due to moisture, if the ter-
minal box cover is not properly fitted. Ensure that the seal
is in the correct position and correctly seated.
Fitting the inner cover
1. Hook the inner housing onto the top of the flange
sleeve.
2. Snap the inner housing into both catches at the bot-
tom. Do not twist it.
7.6 EVN 22 R: Operation with 5-step transformer
The speed of
EVN 22 R
units can be adjusted in steps with
a 5-step transformer
TRE 0.4-2
. For electrical connection
→ circuit diagrams.
Operation with a transformer is not permitted
for EVN 22.
8 Commissioning
1. Switch the mains fuse on.
2. Run function test.
EVN 22 R:
Make sure that the shutter opens and closes
correctly. After approx. 1 to 2 minutes the lamellae are
completely open or closed.
9 Cleaning
Select regular cleaning intervals depending on
the degree of soiling. Damage to the cover when it
is cleaned in the dishwasher. Do not clean the
cover in a dishwasher.
1. Grasp the inner housing at the bottom on the right and
left side and pull it forward evenly.
NOTICE
: Do not pull
off the inner housing at the internal grille or the upper
side.
2. Clean all components with a dry cloth.
Use a vacuum cleaner if necessary. To clean the
shutter, swing the lamellae upwards. Do not use
any aggressive, harmful or highly flammable
cleaning agents for cleaning.
3. Attach the inner housing.
10 Maintenance
In standard operation, the unit is maintenance-free.
Regular inspection for fan in pivoting window
The connection cable at the transition to the window sash/
frame must be checked for damage at regular intervals. In
case of damage, further operation is not permitted. The
unit must be disconnected from the power supply (switch
off the mains fuse and secure it against being switched on
again). Have the connection cable replaced by a trained
specialist.
11 Fault rectification
Fault finding and repairs only permissible when
carried out by qualified electricians.
When the unit is at a standstill, check whether
the thermal overload protection of the motor has
reacted. The fan switches on automatically after
cooling down.
Malfunction

Motor too hot.
Wait until
motor and temperature lim-
iter have cooled. Cool-down
time can take up to

Impeller not turning.
Check impeller.
Ensure that
the impeller is not blocked
by foreign bodies. Switch off
the fan, secure it against be-
ing switched back on and
clean it. Check the fan for
unusual noises during oper-
ation.

Spare parts may only be sourced from and fit-
ted by a specialist installer.

13 Dismantling and environmentally sound
disposal
Old devices and electronic components may
only be dismantled by specialists with electrical
training.
Proper disposal avoids detrimental impact on
people and the environment and allows valuable raw ma-
terials to be reused with the least amount of environ-
mental impact.
Do not dispose of the following compon-
ents in household waste!
Old devices, wearing parts (e.g. air filters),
defective components, electrical and elec-
tronic scrap, environmentally hazardous li-
quids/oils, etc. Dispose of them in an envir-
onmentally friendly manner and recycle
them at the appropriate collection points (→
Waste Disposal Act).
1. Separate the components according to material groups.
2. Dispose of packaging materials (cardboard, filling ma-
terials, plastics) via appropriate recycling systems or re-
cycling centres.
3. Observe the respective country-specific and local regu-
lations.
