1 Scope of delivery
AWV
external wall fan, these installation and operating in-
structions.
2 Required qualifications for installation work
These fans may only be installed, set up, retrofitted, com-
missioned, cleaned, serviced or repaired by
installers spe-
cialised in ventilation technology
. Electrical connection,
commissioning, maintenance and repairs may only be car-
ried out by a
qualified electrician
in accordance with
DGUV regulation 3, Section 2 (3) and in compliance with
the relevant standards (e.g. DIN EN 50110-1) and technical
rules. Further provisions of other national laws must be
taken into account.
Qualifications, requirements:
Specialist training and know-
ledge of compulsory technical standards, EU Directives and
EU Ordinances. Installations are to be carried out profes-
sionally in accordance with the planning documents and
the enclosed operating instructions. Applicable accident
prevention regulations, occupational health and safety
measures (protective clothing in good repair etc.) must be
observed. Installation work by trainees is only permitted
under the supervision of the above-mentioned trained
specialists.
3 Safety instructions
3.1 General safety instructions
DANGER
• Do not deposit combustible materials, liquids or gases
near the fan → In case of ignition or fire, hazardous sub-
stances may enter the rooms with the ventilation.
• Never operate the fan in an explosive atmosphere or in
combination with a lab extraction unit → Risk of explo-
sion due to explosive gases and dusts.
• Risk of death from carbon monoxide when operating
with air-ventilated fireplaces. Ensure sufficient supply air
intake when operating with air-ventilated fireplaces. Ob-
serve the maximum permitted pressure difference of
4 Pa. This model always requires the approval of a re-
gional master chimney sweep.
• Choking hazard if packaging materials are swallowed.
Keep foil materials and small parts away from children.
WARNING
•
Before
removing covers
, switch off all supply circuits
and secure them against being accidentally switched
back on. Attach a visible warning sign.
• Note the insulation of connected ducts and ventilation
channels.
• Provide for
sound insulation measures
for ducts and
ventilation channels. Use tubular sound absorbers to re-
duce noise emissions or for acoustic insulation. Recom-
mendation: Insulate the channels sufficiently to prevent
diffusion.
• Never use the fan
to convey chemicals or aggressive
gases/vapours
→ Risk to health if these substances are
spread throughout the rooms.
• Operate the fan only with
original components
→ Risk
of injury and risk to health in case of modifications or
conversions or if non-approved components are used.
Changes and modifications are not permitted
and re-
lease the manufacturer from any guarantee obligations
and liability,
e.g. if the housing is drilled at a point
which is not permitted.
•
Secure work areas
against unauthorised entry, falling
and falling objects → Risk of injury/equipment damage if
the fan or an object falls during installation, removal,
cleaning, maintenance or repair. Pay attention to the ap-
plicable accident prevention regulations.
ATTENTION
• Install the fan in accordance with the planning specifica-
tions → Operation contrary to the intended purpose if
the fan is incorrectly or improperly installed. Operation
is only permitted with the fan in the correct installation
position, with the cover and external shutter fitted. The
fan may be operated only if the protection against acci-
dental contact with the impeller is guaranteed to be in
accordance with DIN EN ISO 13857.
• Never operate the fan during the construction phase.
Fan and ducting can become dirty and damage the fan.
• Damage to unit due to grease and oil vapours from
range hoods. Grease and oil vapours from range hoods
may soil the fan and air ducts and reduce efficiency.
Never use the fan to convey these substances.
3.2 Safety instructions for operation and use
CAUTION
• Ensure sufficient supply air intake.
•
When the fan is running, keep a sufficient distance
from the fan
and do not insert any objects into the unit
→ Risk of injury due to the suction effect of the fan and
the rotating impeller. Hair, clothing, jewellery etc. may
be pulled into the fan if you get too close to it.
• People with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabil-
ities
or a lack of knowledge
may only operate the fan if
they are properly supervised or have been correctly in-
structed regarding the dangers by a responsible person.
This also applies to
children
.
• Switch the fan off immediately if it is damaged, espe-
cially if you notice damage or faults that endanger per-
sons or property. Prevent further use until the unit has
been completely repaired.
• In the event of a fire or chemical accident (smoke, va-
pours) in your environment, switch off fan until the out-
side air is harmless again.
• Only operate the fan when it is completely assembled
and correctly installed and adjusted.
3.3 Safety instructions for installation
WARNING
• Use protective gloves to prevent cuts caused by sharp-
edged housing plates.
• Observe the requirements at the installation site, envir-
onmental conditions and technical data of the fan.
• The motor may still be very hot after the overload pro-
tection has been triggered or the fan has been switched
off → Risk of burning due to hot motor. Note the cooling
time. This can be up to
30 minutes
, depending on the
fan type. Usually, the fan switches back on automatically
after cooling down.
• Before working on the fan or removing covers, wait until
the fan has come to a standstill → risk of injury when the
fan is running.
• When working at heights, use suitable ladders/climbing
aids and ensure that they are stable. Ensure that you are
standing securely and cannot lose your balance and that
there is no one under the unit. The applicable accident
prevention regulations must be observed. Assembly
areas must be secured against unauthorised entry, fall-
ing objects and falling.
• Switch off the fan’s power supply before carrying out
any work on it → Risk of injury due to unexpected or
automatic start-up. The fan may start up automatically
after shutting down in response to an overload, clearing
of an impeller blockage or accidental switch-on.
3.4 Safety instructions for electrical connection
WARNING — Risk of electric shock
• Observe the safety rules of electrical engineering. Before
taking off covers and before installing the electrics, shut
down all supply circuits, switch off mains fuse, check
that no voltage is present, secure against being accident-
ally switched back on and position a visible warning sign.
• Observe the applicable regulations for electrical installa-
tions, e.g. DIN EN 50110-1 and DIN EN 60204-1, in Ger-
many in particular VDE 0100 with the corresponding
parts → In case of non-observance danger due to elec-
tric shock, fire or short circuit.
