TROUBLESHOOTING
6.1 DIAGNOSTICS
When trying to diagnose a problem on the EC1000 you should first check these items:
1)
That there are cards in at least one of the hoppers and they are face up with the stripe
toward the back of the EC1000 (fig. 3.13).
2)
The card weight is on top of the card stock in the hopper arrow face up and pointing into
the machine (fig. 3.14)
3)
The card access door is shut (the machine will not run if it is open)
4)
The Ethernet or crossover cable is connected and there is a good connection (refer to
section 3.2 on connecting data cable).
5)
Also make sure that the printer has ribbon for printing.
If the first five items check out you should next check the EC1000’s current machine status
(Main screen). When the machine displays offline the problem is most likely due to a printer
problem. So open the top cover and inspect the printer, check to see if there are any cards
jammed in the printer. If a jammed card is located removed it and the machine should return to a
ready status, if it does not, restart the system (refer to section 3.4 for startup and shutdown
instructions).
