It may be helpful to better familiarize yourself with the features of your Multi-
Surface Vacuum by reviewing
Figure 1 in Chapter 2 before beginning the steps
outlined in this chapter. Always refer to the Engine manual for more specific
Engine information.
Starting the Engine (manual Start)
1. Move the Choke Control Lever to the
“CHOKE” position (leave in the run
position if the engine is already warm) ( Figure 19A ).
2. Move the throttle control to
“FULL SPEED” (rabbit) position.
3. Turn the On/Off Switch to the ON position (if equipped)
4. Slowly pull the Starter Cord until you feel resistance, then pull quickly. The
Cord will recoil back into position ( Figure 19A ).
5. As the engine warms up, slowly adjust the Choke to the Left towards the
“RUN” position. Wait until the engine runs smoothly before each Choke
adjustment.
Starting the Engine (Electric Start)
1. Move the Choke Control Lever to the
“CHOKE” position (leave in the run
position if the engine is already warm) ( Figure 19B ).
2. Move throttle control to
“FULL SPEED” (rabbit) position.
3. Insert the Safety Key into the slot under the Starter Switch ( Figure 19B ).
NOTE: The Engine will not start or run with the Safety Key removed.
4. Press the Starter Switch fully to the right (start) until the Engine starts and let
go of the Switch. The Switch will return to the center (run) position.
5. As the engine warms up, slowly adjust the Choke to the left towards the
“RUN” position. Wait until the engine runs smoothly before each Choke
adjustment.
Stopping the Engine (manual Start)
1. Slowly move the Throttle Control Lever to the
“IDLE” position.
2. Turn the On/Off Switch to the OFF position ( Figure 19A ).
Stopping the Engine (Electric Start)
1.
Slowly move the Throttle Control Lever to the “IDLE” position.
2. Turn the Switch to the OFF position.
