14. Quality control
Every facility has to implement its own QC policy. To ensure the
instrument performs properly, it has to be checked on a regular
basis. In addition to the internal self‑test, we therefore recommend
control measurements with known positive and known negative
control solutions (e.g. Medi‑Test Control REF 93038).
14.1 Check mode
To get to the check mode, press the activity‑button

14.1.1 Internal check
Once you press the activity‑button
Internal check
, the instrument starts a
self‑test. During the process, both the LEDs and the instrument’s
mechanics are checked for their operational capabilities. After the
internal check, the instrument prints values for the intensity of the
LEDs. If you have trouble with your instrument, you can send the
LED values to our technical service to get initial feedback on your
problem.
14.1.2 Control measurement
The activity‑button
Control
measurement
initiates quality control measurements
with known positive and known negative quality control solutions.
Use your normal test strips for the measurement. To start the
control measurement, press the activity‑button. First, you have
to measure a strip with negative control solution. A new screen
appears asking you to “Insert NEG strip”. As soon as you have
placed the respective strip, the instrument asks to “Insert POS
strip” and you have to insert a strip with positive control solution.
Then, the message “Please wait” is displayed until both strips have
been measured. Once the measurements are completed, the
results are printed and the start‑screen appears.
Perform a normal measurement with negative and positive
control solution (e.g. Medi‑Test Control REF 93038). Preparation
and the measurement itself are carried out exactly like a normal
measurement (see chapter 13. Measurement, page 25) . The
results are printed and saved.
To evaluate the results, read the instructions of the control solution
manufacturer. In case you are using Medi‑Test Control solutions
from MACHEREY‑NAGEL, refer to the reference table provided in
the instructions for evaluation.
We recommend performing tests with control solutions:

In the beginning of every day

When a new batch of strips is used

When results are questionable

Whenever the operators change
14.1.3 Control strip measurement
NOTICE
Do not touch the test fields of the control strip with your fingers.
The activity‑button
Control strip
initiates an inspection equipment
monitoring process with the help of colored control strips. Only use
the colored control strips provided by MACHEREY‑NAGEL for this
purpose. Empty the the waste container and clean the transport
tray before starting the control strip measurement (see chapter 16.
Cleaning and maintenance, page 29) . To start the measurement
with the colored control strip, press the activity‑button. Follow
the instruction and measure the colored control strip. Then, the
message “Please wait” is displayed until the control strip has been
measured. The result of the measurement is displayed and printed
and can now be compared to the values given in the instruction
leaflet of the colored control strips. Leave the menu via . In
case the values do not match the ranges given in the instruction
leaflet, contact MACHEREY‑NAGEL or your local distributor.
14.1.4 Stored data
The activity‑button
Stored data
allows you to review the saved results
of your control measurements. The results are displayed in exactly
the same way as for normal measurements. However, here you
cannot enter sediment information.
You can print and send the data for control measurements with the
icons in the lower part of the screen.
