SHM31 Quickstart: Connection & First Check
Thank you for choosing our product. With this quickstart sheet, we would like to assist you with
connection, installation and first check of the Snow-Depth-Sensor SHM31.
Mounting SHM 31:
-
For mounting on a pole, we recommend to use our poleclamps 8365.608-11,
8365.609-11 or 8365.610-11
-
For correct snowdepht measurement, the sensor SHM31 must be installed to the pole
at an
angel
α between 10° and 30°

Note:
If you do not use the UMB protocol, the PIN assignment is changing. More
detailed information may be found in the manual.
Connection to ISOCON-UMB
Warning:
The heating voltage (red = positive heating
voltage; blue = heating voltage ground) is not
connected to the ISOCON-UMB but rather wired
directly to the power supply.
When using a surge protection, please pay attention to
the connection example in the surge protection
operating instruction.
Measurement data check via UMB-Cofig-Tool.NET:
1.
Install UMBConfigTool.NET (Software available on the memory stick included in the
delevery or on
2.
Connect COM-Port PCto the ISOCON-UMB interface (RS232-SUBD9-1:1)
3.
Start the LUFFT UMB-Config-Tool.NET
4.
Choose the used COM-Port: “Settings
Connections
Seriell”
5.
Download th device template
6.
Save settings (floppy disk symbol, beside “devices template dowmload”)
7.
Leave the start screen
8.
Edit workspace, create new workspace (click on the “Monitor” symbol)
9.
Create a workspace (or choose a current version):
Define a name; click “+” button; device details: define a name and set device address; load
the channel list and set parameters
10. Save the settings
11. Quit settings and start the measurement
