Overview

Use this procedure to create new DCC (Data Communication Channel) terminations.
This is necessary for exchanging network management information between NEs and
performing the network establishment procedures described in this chapter as well as
the tests described in chapter

“Test procedures” (p. 10-50)

Always observe the ESD instructions (cf.

“Electrostatic discharge” (p. 1-20)

Required equipment

Prior to performing this task, the following equipment must be available:

1.

WaveStar

®

CIT PC

2. CAT5 crossover LAN cable with RJ-45/RJ-45 connectors (see chapter 4,

4-48, “CIT connection (LAN crossed)” (p. 4-74)

3. ESD Wrist Strap.

Prerequisites

Prior to performing this task, you must have done the following:

1. Established a protected ring configuration according to section

“Connecting the

fiber cables” (p. 10-4)

2. Plugged XC, CTL and optical I/O circuit packs in each NE of the ring.

3. Logged in to

WaveStar

®

CIT as Super User (see chapter 5, section

“Starting the

CIT application” (p. 5-18)

) if

WaveStar

®

CIT User Login has been

enabled during

WaveStar

®

CIT installation.

Max. number of active DCC links

The maximum number of simultaneously supported DCC channels per DCC controller
is 64 (for CTL/- and CTL/2) or 180 (for CTL/3).
