3. In Device Manager, expand the view for Ports (COM and LPT). Active COM ports will

appear on this list with the COM port number. A USB gateway will be displayed as

USB to UART Bridge (COM

X

). A serial gateway will be attached to the

Communications Port (COM

X

). An Ethernet gateway will be connected to a Virtual

Serial port (COM

X

). If no port is listed, the port is not recognized by the computer, and

no gateway communication can be established.
