    INTRODUCTION

The Little Giant Remote Vertical Mechanical Switch you have purchased is designed to operate in

applications with limited space, such as small sump basins and laundry trays, as well as in large tanks.

This magnetically activated switch features heavy duty contacts. It is capable of directly controlling pumps

up to 13 amps and is not sensitive to turbulence. The RVMS is designed for water and sewage. The RVMS

is designed for easy attachment and is available in pump down models only.
Read these instructions carefully. Failure to follow these instructions voids all warranty and could result in

bodily harm or property damage. All wiring and plumbing must be permanent and comply with local codes.

Be certain power supplying the pump and switch is removed before servicing.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE UNIT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SOURCE BEFORE ATTEMPTING

TO SERVICE OR REMOVE ANY COMPONENT!
Vent tank in accordance with local plumbing codes. Do not install pump switch in locations classified as

hazardous in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Install unit in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
Do not handle the unit with wet hands or when standing on a wet or damp surface or in water. This unit is

supplied with grounding conductor. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, be certain that it is connected to a

properly grounded grounding type receptacle.
In any installations where property damage and/or personal injury might result from inoperative or leaking pump

due to power outages, discharge line blockage, or any other reason, use a backup system(s) and/or alarm.
Do not removed label from switch cable.

INSTALLATION

PIGGY-BACK PLUG INSTALLATION

Remove piggy-back plug from electrical outlet before installing or servicing the pump and/or switch.
Determine desired activation level and pumping range for your installation (Figure 1). Adjust pumping

range by moving the float stop up or down the rod (Figure 2). Do not mount switch in direct line of

incoming liquid.
Insert clamp through slots in mounting bracket (Figure 2).
Position hose clamp around discharge pipe with bracket gripping tabs against pipe. Ensure that cable

remains on outside of hose clamp (Figure 2).
Tighten hose clamp securely once pump switch is in desired position.
Secure pump cable and switch cable to discharge pipe.
Connect piggy-back plug to outlet (Figure 3).
Connect pump plug to piggy-back plug (Figure 3).
Allow pump to cycle several times to ensure proper pump range. Be certain float mechanism path is

not obstructed.

DIRECT-WIRE INSTALLATION
NOTE:

Piggy-back plug may be removed for direct-wire installation.

Turn off circuit breaker. To avoid hazards, and for convenience, install the double pole disconnect

(breaker) near the pump installation.
Determine desired activation level and pumping range for installation (Figure 1). Adjust pumping range

by moving float stop up or down rod (Figure 2). Do not mount switch in direct line of incoming liquid.
Insert clamp through slots in mounting bracket (Figure 2).

TESTING

Without water in sump, plug pump cord into the back

of the switch plug. Plug switch into outlet. Lift float

and listen for pump to operate. Do not run pump for

more than 5 seconds. Next, run water into sump where

pump is installed. Fill the sump to the “on” level and

allow the pump to remove water to the “off” level.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to pump, do not set

switch turn-off level below 2 inches above bottom of

pump base. Also be sure that the pump is secured in its

position so that the float will not become stuck between

the pump and the basin, which could prevent the pump

from turning ON or OFF. Be sure the hose clamp is

secure so that the switch cord does not accidentally slip

and change the pre-set ON/OFF levels.

NOTE: Little Giant cannot be responsible for damages caused by the faulty or negligent installation of this

control. If you feel that you may encounter problems in installing this device, we respectfully suggest you

engage the services of a competent plumber, electrician, or qualified service person.

REPLACEMENT OF RVMS PUMP SWITCH FOR WRS BASINS

CAUTION! Disconnect the unit from the power source before attempting to service or rework any

components.
Disconnect unit from inlet pipe, vent pipe, and discharge pipe.
Remove the 14 machine screws from around the basin cover.
Take off basin cover and remove cord grommet.
Remove old pump switch cord from the cord grommet.
If existing switch is an RVMS model, loosen the stainless-steel clamp that attaches the RVMS pump

switch to the discharge pipe. If existing switch is a diaphragm model, simply unscrew the switch

bracket from the pump and proceed to Step 8.
Slide the RVMS pump switch up and off the discharge pipe. Be careful to note the switch’s orientation

for re-assembly.
Trim 1.25” from the replacement RVMS pump switch stem. Orient the rubber grommet to the location

shown in Figure 5.
Clean out the basin to ensure maximum product performance. Replace the RVMS pump switch in the

reverse order in which it was removed.
