1. Introduction
The LINDY KVM Extender C5 PRO-300 includes one local and one remote unit, a KVM cable, a serial cable, a
power supply and a set of rubber feet for each unit.
This KVM Extender set allows you to place the controlling keyboard, video monitor, mouse, audio accessories
and also a serial device up to 300 metres from a system. It supports video resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200 @
75Hz using UTP Category 5e cable. The long distance link between the two modules is made via Category 5 or
higher, twisted pair cabling. There is no particular advantage in using higher specification Category 6 cables. On
the contrary it may even result in unacceptable video quality if you use a) Category 6 and b) shielded cable.
Especially for larger distances over 100m careful video adjustment has to be made – otherwise the picture
quality may not be sufficient! Special circuitry within the remote module allows you to make adjustments to the
sharpness and brightness. Additionally, it also features Skew adjustment to compensate the effects of uneven
lengths of twisted pair connection cable.
2. Installation
The installation of the Extender C5 set is straightforward. You can either use it as stand alone units or you
can mount them into a dedicated 19” rack. For the latter please refer to the extensive manual on the CD.
Install the units in the place you need, connect them with Cat.5 or higher connection cable of appropriate
length. Connect the KVM cables to the local PC or KVM switch and then to the local extender unit. Connect
your remote console and the power supply to the remote extender module.
The basic operations of the LOCAL and REMOTE modules are controlled by the banks of four switches located
on the side of each module. When shipped, all switches are set in the OFF positions and this will produce
normal operation with normal microphone input. If you encounter any problems please refer to the extensive

Switch Settings and Hot Plugging and Mouse Restoration. If you experience problems with your KVM switch
hotkeys and OSD menu switching, put configuration switch 2 on the local extender unit to the ON position.

1. Einführung
Der LINDY KVM Extender C5 PRO-300 beinhaltet einen LOCAL und einen REMOTE Unit, ein KVM-Kombi-
kabel, ein serielles Anschlusskabel, ein Netzteil und Gummifüße für beide Units.
Der Extender erlaubt die Fernbedienung eines Computers oder KVM Switches einschließlich Monitor, Maus,
Tastatur, Mikrofon, Lautsprecher und RS-232 aus einer Distanz bis zu 300m bei Auflösungen bis
1600x1200@75Hz. Die beiden Module werden mit einem Cat.5/5e Netzwerkkabel passender Länge verbunden.
Höherwertiges Cat.6 Kabel bringt keine Vorteile gegenüber Cat.5e Kabel guter Qualität. Ebenfalls kann
abgeschirmtes Kabel, egal ob Cat.5 oder Cat.6, zu inakzeptabler Bildqualität bei großen Längen führen. Legen
Sie das Cat.5 Kabel möglichst nicht parallel zu (Stark-)Stromkabeln.
Besonders für Distanzen über 100m muss eine sorgfältige Einstellung der Bildqualität erfolgen! Andernfalls kann
die Bildqualität absolut unzureichend sein. Im Remote Modul sind dazu einstellbare Verstärker und
Kompensatoren integriert, die von der Remote Konsole die Einstellung von Schärfe und Helligkeit erlauben. Bei
großen Längen muss die unterschiedliche Länge der einzelnen Adern des Verbindungskabels kompensiert
werden (Skew Compensation).
2. Installation
Die Installation ist recht einfach. Der Extender kann als Stand-Alone-Lösung oder mit mehreren Extendern in
einem speziellen 19” Rack verwendet werden, Erläuterungen zum 19” Rack-Einbau finden Sie im ausführlichen
englischen Handbuch auf CD. Verbinden Sie die beiden Units mit einem Cat.5e UTP Kabel geeigneter Länge.
Schließen Sie das beiliegende KVM-Kabel an Ihren fernzubedienenden Rechner oder KVM-Switch und am
Extender Local Unit an. Schließen Sie Ihre Remote Konsole sowie das Netzteil am Extender Remote Unit an.
Die Konfiguration der Local und Remote Units werden durch je 4 DIP Switches eingestellt. Im Lieferzustand sind
alle auf OFF und damit auf Normalbetrieb. Falls Sie beim Betrieb irgendwelche Inkompatibilitäten feststellen, so
ziehen Sie das ausführliche englische Handbuch auf CD zu Rate. Sie finden dort Lösungen für viele
