OPERATION & MAINTENANCE — To turn the fan on, flip the switch to either the
LOW or HIGH positions (LOW is recommended for most conditions). The green
indicator light on the switch will illuminate whenever the fan is running. The fan may
be left on whenever the RV/Boat is occupied, but should be shut off before putting
the RV/Boat into long-term storage. Whenever a ceiling vent fan is also used, it
should be set to draw air INTO living areas, rather than pulling air OUTWARD; this
will prevent the fans from working against each other. The DC brushess motor
requires no maintenance. However, the debris screens located inside both pipe
fittings (when present) should be cleaned every year or so. Replacement motors and
other parts are available from the factory.

GENERAL INFORMATION — Lil' Stanker™ fans are designed to create a slight vacuum within your holding tanks that helps in preventing odor infiltration into living areas.
This continuous air suction is effective in controlling both grey and black water tank odors (although a separate fan is usually necessary for each holding tank.) The In-Line™
version is designed to be mounted at any point along the vent pipe's run between the holding tank and roof. Standard female pipe fittings for 1-1/2" I.D. vent pipe are used for
fan attachment; other fitting sizes are available via special order. The fan can be mounted at any angle — even upside-down if necessary. The two-speed selector switch can
be mounted either inside the included enclosure, or on your own panel. A green power indicator light on the switch confirms that the fan is turned on.

STEP 1: Determine the best mounting location
for your fan, based upon:

1.

•1. Access to the vent pipe,
•2. Access to nearby DC power wires,

•4. Best physical appearance (if mounted inside
     living areas).

For example, the fan might be installed inside the same compartment that
houses the holding tank, or inside a cabinet or  closet. The fan is inaudible at
any distance greater than several feet, so this is the minimum distance that it
should be mounted from sleeping areas.

Next, test the fan by temporarily connecting it directly to your house battery or
other 12 volt DC power source (GREEN wire to POSITIVE, and WHITE wire to
NEGATIVE). The fan should start immediately.

STEP 2: If not already present, install a roof-
mounted vent pipe cap, in order to keep debris and
rainwater from falling down into the fan.

Next, identify the intended fan mounting location,
and cut a 3-1/4" inch (83 MM) section out of the
vent pipe at this point (use the Vent Pipe Cutting
Gauge shown at right to measure the proper
distance). Trim away any rough edges on the pipe,
and apply either a dab of petroleum jelly or a layer
of Teflon® tape all the way around around the end
of each pipe, in order to provide an airtight seal
with the fan. Next, slide the fan in place over the
pipe ends. (NOTE: The fan should be installed so
that the AIR FLOW arrow points towards the end of
the vent pipe on the roof.)

NOTE: Installing the fan with cement is not
recommended, since doing so would hinder any
future attempts to remove the fan for repairs or
cleaning. A slip-in fit is sufficient to provide an air-
tight connection.

CAUTION: Take care to avoid twisting the
fan while inserting the vent pipe. Excessive
force may break the fittings on the fan.

STEP 3:  Select a convenient, non-metallic mounting
surface for the fan shutoff switch inside a closet,
cabinet or other compartment, near the fan's power
wires. (NOTE: If desired, up to 2 fans may be
connected to the same switch). Cut the fan’s wires
next to this mounting location. Strip approx. 1/4"
(6MM) of insulation off both cut ends of both wires,
twisting any frayed wire strands back together  again.

STEP 4: Strip the ends of the power wires and
connect them to a FUSED source of 12 volt DC
electrical power (GREEN fan power wire to
POSITIVE, and WHITE fan wire to NEGATIVE).
IMPORTANT: MAKE CONNECTIONS EXACTLY
AS SHOWN. FAN WILL NOT WORK IF WIRING
OR BATTERY CONNECTIONS ARE INCORRECT.

The recommended fuse size is 0.25 amps (for 1 fan)
or 0.5 amps (for 2 fans). This completes the
installation.
