As soon as the process is carried out, enter the
Device Manager applet and check that the USB
Serial Port under the item Ports (COM & LPT) and the
USB Serial Converter under the item Universal Serial
Bus controllers are installed properly.
5 – Configuring the serial port
After the drivers have been successfully installed, the
new COM port becomes available, it will be set to
any name such as COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.,
according to availability.
Usually, but not always, the parameters needful for
configuring the serial port are fixed and cannot be
changed. They are:

Please note that in some cases the application that
you launch will force the parametrization of the
personal computer's serial port to the settings
required by the serial port of the connected device.
So you are not required to previously set the
parameters of the personal computer's serial port by
entering the Windows Device Manager menu.
Always check the communication parameters
required by the serial port and how they must be set
in the specific documentation of the connected
device.
6 – Programming software
Now it is possible to launch the executable file of the
programming software provided for the connected
device. For any information on the executable file
please refer to the specific documentation of the
device.
In the Figure below the first screen (Identification
page) of an encoder's programming software is
shown by the way of an example.
WARNING
Please make sure that one only device is
connected to the personal computer
and switched on when you start a
device searching process!
