Name Type Description
Active LED Lights (green) during normal operation.
Fail LED Flashes during software download, lights (red) in the event of
equipment failure.
Prog LED Lights (orange) during programming of the unit’s non-
volatile memory (NVM) component.
The NVM should not be removed while programming.
Alarm LED Lights (red) in the event of a transmission alarm (e.g., LOS).
ACK LED Lights when an alarm was acknowledged, either by pressing
the front panel ACO button or through the management
station (i.e., eEM).
Laser ON LED Lights (green) when the aggregate laser transceiver is
operating; there are two of these LEDs, one for each
transceiver.
ACO Pushbutton Press to acknowledge current alarms.
Reset Pushbutton
Press to reset the
µ
SDM-1.
Laser ACT Pushbutton Reactivates laser transceiver in selected direction (UP - in
East direction, DOWN - in West direction). Should be used
in the event of a laser shutdown.
Short press (2 Sec) activates the laser for 2 Sec. Long press
(12 Sec) activates the laser for 90 Sec.
NVM Panel Covers the unit’s non-volatile memory component.

(Optional) Pushbutton Selects 2 Mbit/s channel for monitoring through the front
panel J9 connector.

: The

SDM-1 has no serviceable parts other than the
NVM. The NVM installed in the
µ
SDM-1 is not compatible
with modules installed in SYNCOM

multiplexers.
