The

Update Rate

is the communication frequency between the instrument and the

computer. Select from 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 Hz.

Note:

When connecting over satellite or cellular networks that have data limits,

connect at a lower update rate (such as 0.1 Hz) to limit the amount of data used.

Click on the

Connect

button to establish communications with the instrument. If

something is wrong, it will time out after about 15 seconds. If this happens, make
sure you selected the correct instrument and retry.

Connect over Serial RS-232

The LI-7550 RS-232 port is configured as Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) with no
hardware handshaking. It is bi-directional, meaning information can be transferred
both into and out of the instrument.

Note:

You may need a USB to RS-232 adapter to use the serial connection. LI-

COR part 6400-27 is a suitable adapter.
