4.19 Station Message Wait/Call Back
Description
When a user calls a station that is busy, in DND (refer to Ref. B), or does not answer, the
calling user can activate Station Message Wait or Call Back. The ipLDK determines if Call
Back or Message Wait is activated based on the status of the called station. If the called
station is busy, a Call Back is activated. If the called station is in DND or does not answer, a
Station Message Wait is activated.
When a user activates Call Back to a busy station, the ipLDK will monitor the status of the
station. When the busy station returns to idle, the station that activated the Call Back will
receive recall ring and the Call Back button LED flashes. When the recall is answered, the
originally busy station is called. A station can activate any number of Call Back requests. A
station can receive a Call Back request from any number of stations however, only the first Call
Back request is stored as a Call Back, the remaining are stored as Message Waits.
When a user calls a station that does not answer or is in DND, Call Back activates a Station
Message Wait. The DKT station will indicate the message with a flashing Call Back button
and the LCD will indicate the message status. When the station responds to a Station
Message Wait, an intercom call is placed to the station that left the message. A station can
receive a maximum of five (5) Station Message Waits. Stations attempting to activate
additional Message Waits to a station with five station messages will receive error tone.
In addition to the flashing Call Back button, a DKT station with a Station Message Waiting may
receive periodic audible reminders of the waiting message. The tone is sent over the speaker
only while the station is idle. For SLTs, an audible reminder is available in the form of stutter
dial tone when the user goes ‘off-hook’.
