Parallel Port Service Check
Power Service Check
FRU Action
1 Parallel Port Run a test page to be sure the printer can print.
Run the
“Parallel Port Wrap Test” on
page 3-4
. If the test fails, replace the Controller
board.
FRU Action
1 Power Cord Check the line voltage. Check the power cord for
damage. Make a continuity reading of the power
cord and replace if necessary.
2 Power Supply Disconnect J9 from the engine board and check
the following voltages on the power supply cable:
•
J9-1 to J9-3 & J9-5 = +5 V dc
•
J9-2 to J9-3 & J9-5 = +30 V dc
•
J9-4 to J9-3 & J9-5 = +11.75 V dc
Disconnect the power cable to the controller board
and check +5 V dc between the pins at the power
cable.
If you do not have correct voltage, replace the
power supply. Be sure to unplug the printer before
you reconnect the power supply to the boards.
3 Controller Board
Flex Cable
Memory SIMM
Unplug the printer and disconnect the controller
board flex cable from the controller board. Plug the
power cord into the printer. If the symptom
changed, unplug the printer. Reconnect the flex
cable. Check the flex cable for opens or shorts.
Unplug the printer and remove one card from the
controller board. Plug the power cord into the
printer. If the symptom changed, repeat this
process for the other card looking for symptom
change. Check for shorts. Replace the failing part.
