Installing a controller
• TO AVOID FIRE SHOCK OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER at a circuit breaker
or fuse panel and test that power is off before wiring in a Levven Controls
product. Install and/or use Levven Controls in accordance with local electrical
codes and regulations. Levven controllers are to be mounted in an electrical
junction box of suitable size to satisfy the electrical code in your area. If you
are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a qualified electrician.
1) Connect wires to the controller (Fig 1)
a. Connect the black power wire to the black wire of the controller
b. Connect the black load wire to the red wire from the controller
c. Connect the white wires from the power, load, and controller together
2) Mount the controller in an electrical box
a. If installing the controller in a steel box, position the controller’s antenna
wire outside the box for best reception. The antenna can be inside a plastic
electrical box without affecting reception.
3) Turn power on
a. When your connections are safely completed, energize the circuit by turning
the power on at the panel.
b. When powered, the LED status indicator on the controller will illuminate.
4) Group controllers together
a. When two or more controllers are installed in a building, grouping controllers
together is required to operate multiple controllers from one switch or using
Levven Q for mobile device access and control. Only controllers with no
previously saved group or pairing can join a group.
b. Press and release the ‘Pair’ button on one of the controllers in the group (or
an ungrouped controller to start a new group). The LED on this controller
(C1) will blink green.
c. Press ‘Pair’ button on new controller being added to the group (C2). Its LED
will blink green, and the first controller’s LED will blink red/green.
d. Press ‘Pair’ button on the first controller (C1) again to complete the grouping.
Its LED will flash green three times to confirm the group setting was saved.
5) How to reset a controller
a. To clear switch pairings from a controller, press and hold the ‘Pair’ button for
5 seconds. The LED will flash red three times to confirm.
b. To remove a controller from a group, press and hold its ‘Pair’ button for 10
seconds. The LED will flash red 10 times when the grouping is cleared.
c. If using multiple controllers, group the controller before pairing it to a switch.
6) Pair switches and controllers
a. Press and release the ‘Pair’ button on the controller. The LED on the
controller will blink green. NOTE: If there is no pairing request received within
60 seconds, the controller will quit the pairing procedure and its LED will
return to a solid green.
b. Squeeze then quickly release both ends of the switch to send a pairing code
to the controller. The LED on the controller will blink green and red.
c. Press and release the controller’s ‘Pair’ button to confirm the pairing. Its LED
will flash green to confirm the pairing was saved successfully.
7) Mounting and using switches
a. Levven Controls switches can be secured to any surface. Screws and
anchors are provided to mount switches. Use decorator-style or Designer
Series wall plates to finish the installation.
b. Press and release the top of the switch rocker to send an “on” command to
the controller. Press and hold the top to brighten the lights, or press and hold
the bottom of the switch to dim the lights. Press and release the bottom of
the switch rocker to send an “off” command.
Setting maximum and minimum brightness
1) Set the dimmer’s max brightness level
a. Press and hold the top of the switch rocker to increase the light’s brightness.

If the light flickers, release the switch. Press and hold the bottom of the
switch rocker to dim the light to a level where it does not flicker.
b. 2-click/double-click the button on the GDT15 controller. This sets the
highest brightness. The GDT15 controller’s LED indicator will flash green to
confirm the setting is saved.
2) Set the dimmer’s min brightness level
a. Press and hold the bottom of the switch rocker to decrease the light’s
brightness. If the light flickers, release the switch. Press and hold the top of
the switch rocker and brighten the light to a level where it does not flicker.
b. 2-click/double-click the button on the controller. This sets the lowest
brightness. The GDT15 controller’s LED indicator will flash green to confirm
the setting is saved.
3) Reset the dimmer’s max/min brightness level to
factory default
a. 3-click/triple-click the button on the GDT15 controller. NOTE: This will not
clear any pairings or groupings in the controller’s memory. It only resets the
brightness max/min settings to factory defaults.
