10.1.1 Measures to be performed prior to the initial commissioning
Before commissioning, familiarize yourself with the operation and configuration of the BCL 300
i
.
Before connecting the supply voltage, recheck all connections and ensure that they have been properly
made.
The description of the electrical connections can be found in Chapter 7.
10.1.2 Starting the device
Connect the 18 … 30VDC supply voltage
The BCL 300
i
sends an ’S’ to the interface as a start-up message and to announce that the device is ready.
The BCL 300
i
works in the standard setting (factory setting) as described below:
• Activation of the reading gate via SWIO_1, the scanning beam becomes visible
• If a bar code is detected, it is output via the RS 232 interface according to the following protocol:
<STX><code data><CRT><LF>
(9600 Baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit)
• If the BCL 300
i
is equipped with a display, the read bar code content appears on this display.

can decode the following code types in the standard setting:
