The following illustration shows the installation order for the four memory slots. Install memory modules in
the numerical order as shown.

Removing a memory module
To remove a memory module, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See “Preparing your server in advance and removing
the server cover” on page 53.
2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
3. Locate and remove the memory module.

4. If you are instructed to return the old memory module, follow all packaging instructions and use any
packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
Installing a memory module
