Step 12. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.
Removing the ServeRAID M5210 SAS/SATA Controller for System x
Use this information to remove the ServeRAID M5210 SAS/SATA Controller.
To remove the ServeRAID M5210 SAS/SATA controller, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page v and “Installation
guidelines” on page 38.
Step 2.
Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 23) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3.
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 216).
Step 4.
Disconnect the signal cables from the adapter.
Step 5.
Disconnect the cable from the RAID cache card, if a RAID cache card is installed on the adapter.
Step 6.
Carefully grasp the riser-card by the blue touch points and pull it up until the riser-card assembly
disengages from the connector on the system board and set it aside.
Step 7.
Open the PCIe retention latch.
Step 8.
Remove the adapter from the riser-card assembly.
Step 9.
Remove the RAID cache card from the adapter, if a RAID cache card is installed (see “Removing
a RAID cache card” on page 262).
Step 10. If you are instructed to return the adapter, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Use this information to replace the ServeRAID M5210 SAS/SATA Controller.

You can purchase the optional ServeRAID M5210 SAS/SATA Controller. The ServeRAID M5210 adapter
provides base RAID levels 0, 1, and 10 support. See “Supported adapters” on page 70 and Table 15 “PCIe
slots, the microprocessor which supports the PCIe slot, and the size of the PCIe adapters supported.”
