Step 2. Align the tabs on the sides of the DIMM air baffle with the slots on
the sides of the chassis wall and lower the DIMM air baffle into the
server.

Step 3. Reinstall the cover (see “Replacing the server top cover” on page 216).
Step 4. Slide the server into the rack.
Step 5. Reconnect the power cord and any cables that you removed.
Step 6. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.
Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the air baffle before turning on the server.
Operating the server with an air baffle removed might damage server components.
Removing an adapter
Use this information to remove an adapter.
To remove an adapter, complete the following steps:
Step 1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see “Safety” on page v and “Installation
guidelines” on page 38.
Step 2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 23) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3. Remove the server cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 216).
Step 4. Remove the adapter from a PCIe slot on the system board.
a. Disconnect any cables (including external cables) from the adapter.
b. Lift up the adapter retention latch that secures the adapter
c. Carefully grasp the adapter by its top edge or upper corners, and pull the adapter from the
connector on the system board and set it aside. Go toStep 6 on page 223.
Step 5. Remove the adapter from the PCIe riser-card assembly .
