Replacing the G8264

Preparing and Returning the G8264

replacing

the

G8264,

remove

all

associated

components

and

options

according

the

instructions

this

chapter.

Remove

and

retain

clips,

cords,

cables,

modules,

caps

blanks,

air

‐

duct

option

(if

installed),

and

any

mounting

hardware.

These

items

can

then

reinstalled

the

replacement

unit.

When

you

remove

the

G8264

from

the

rack,

record

the

product

Machine

Type

‐

Model

(MTM)

number

and

serial

number

use

for

the

replacement

switch.

See

locate

the

product

information

labels

the

switch

through

the

switch

firmware

interface.

return

the

chassis

customer

service

for

replacement,

see

”

help

you

gather

all

the

required

information

that

necessary

return

component.

After

you

remove

the

G8264

unit,

securely

pack

for

shipping.

Replace

power

and

fan

modules.

For

the

installed,

configure

the

Vital

Product

Data

(VPD)

the

replacement

switch

shown

the

following

section.

Configuring Vital Product Data

After

you

install

the

replacement

G8264

hardware

(the

new

unit),

you

must

configure

the

new

unit

use

the

VPD

the

unit

which

was

removed

(the

old

unit),

order

avoid

losing

any

licensed

electronic

entitlement

data.

The

required

information

consists

the

old

unit’s

MTM

and

serial

number,

which

was

collected

from

the

old

unit

according

configure

the

VPD

new

switch,

complete

the

following

steps.

Log

the

new

G8264

directed

the
