IGMP Querier

IGMP

Querier

allows

the

switch

perform

the

multicast

router

(Mrouter)

role

and

provide

Mrouter

discovery

when

the

network

virtual

LAN

(VLAN)

does

not

have

router.

When

the

IGMP

Querier

feature

enabled

VLAN,

the

switch

participates

the

Querier

election

process

and

has

the

possibility

elected

Querier

for

the

VLAN.

The

IGMP

querier

periodically

broadcasts

IGMP

Queries

and

listens

for

hosts

respond

with

IGMP

Reports

indicating

their

IGMP

group

memberships.

Mrouters

exist

Mrouters

elect

one

the

querier,

which

performs

all

periodic

membership

queries.

can
