Cutter bar deflector curtains are an essential part of the safety equipment
provided with the mower.

Curtains are designed to help prevent materials from being thrown out from
cutter bar area. They are designed with a specific shape and material
composition to accomplish this purpose effectively.

For your safety, it is essential that the machine is equipped with curtains that
are in good condition. Damaged curtains must be replaced.

Use your good judgment and the following guidelines to determine whether a
curtain needs to be replaced.

Curtain - Replace

A curtain must be replaced when it:

•

has a hole, tear or other opening which would allow an object to pass through in a hazardous
manner.

•

is worn at the bottom so it is too short.

•

has other damage which will reduce its ability to contain flying materials.

When replacing a curtain, use only Lely replacement curtains, which are only available from Lely
dealers. Never use a curtain that is not supplied by Lely. Curtains of a different shape or material may
not provide as much protection from punctures, tearing, or other damage.

The friction discs are spring-loaded, factory-set units which do not require adjustment over the life of the
friction discs. However, after each long period of inactivity, clutch must be slipped to release seized friction
discs before mowing.

Slip Clutch - Break In

DANGER:

Entanglement in rotating PTO shaft can result in death or

serious injury.

Stay away from rotating PTO shaft. Stop engine and ensure PTO shaft is
stopped before working on PTO shaft.

Keep PTO shaft shields in place at all times. Ensure shields turn and
telescope freely.

Wear close-fitting clothing and confine long hair.
